The INERGEN fire suppression system extinguishes fires by reducing the oxygen concentration in the air, effectively suffocating the flames. It is a clean agent, which means it does not leave any residue or harm the environment, making it an excellent choice for critical facilities such as data centers, telecommunications equipment, and hospitals as well as high value assets including art galleries and museums.

The INERGEN system consists of three gases: nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide. When released, these gases displace the oxygen in the air, reducing the concentration from the typical 21% to around 15%. At this reduced level, most fires cannot sustain combustion and will extinguish.

The 300-bar designation refers to the pressure rating of the cylinders used to store the INERGEN mixture. These cylinders store the gas at a pressure of 300 bar (4350 psi), allowing a greater volume of gas to fit in a smaller space, making them a practical option for applications with limited space. 

INERGEN 300-Bar with iFLOW Technology system is activated automatically through a detection system, such as a smoke or heat detector. Once the system is activated, the gas is released into the protected area within seconds, rapidly reducing the oxygen level and extinguishing the fire.

The use of INERGEN is particularly advantageous in situations where water, foam, or other extinguishing agents may cause damage to sensitive equipment or documents. It is also suitable for spaces that are normally occupied by people, as the gas does not produce any harmful byproducts, making it safe for human exposure.

INERGEN 300 -Bar Composition and Materials

The basic system consists of suppressing agent stored in high-strength alloy steel containers. Both manual or automatic actuators are available for release of the agent into the hazard area. A network of piping and nozzles distributes the agent throughout the hazard area.Each nozzle has a fixed orifice that ensures a uniform discharge to the protected area. In the unique matrix system, the container(s) connect to the distribution piping or manifold through a flexible discharge hose and horizontal check valve assembly. Depending on the number of containers, some systems may not require a manifold.

Additional equipment: Control panels, Releasing devices, Remote manual pull stations, Corner pulleys, Door closures, Pressure trips, Alarms and Pneumatic switches.

INERGEN 300-Bar Limitations

The INERGEN iFLOW system must be installed within the guidelines of the manufacturer’s installation, operation, inspection, recharge, and maintenance manual. In short, the ambient operating temperature limitations are: -4 °F to 130 °F (-20 °C to 54 °C).
